Global News / Markets NEW DELHI: Asserting that 'patronising attitude towards Israel,' specially by the US, will not help the Israel-Palestine peace process, Ms Terry Greenblatt, an Israeli peace activist urged the international community including India, to take tough stand against Israel and insisted that it follow 'same standards of international law and responsibility' in dealing with the conflict. "A just resolution to the conflict is possible only when the international community insists upon the restoration of the basic rule of international humanitarian law, so that no State shall remain above law," said the former Director of Bat Shalom, Israe l's national women's peace organisation. "Any special status to Israel will not benefit. And India should be a part of that International community to tell Israel to follow same standard of International law and justice, while dealing with the crisis," Ms Greenblatt said. Hitting hard on the US for being a 'protector of Israel,' she said the Sharon government along with the support of the US continues to bleach the Gaza disengagement initiative of its political significance and possibility. "Gaza disengagement should be the first of many more steps necessary for a just resolution to the conflict." Ms Greenblatt who has been leading the Jewish and Palestinian Israeli women's relentless struggle to oppose the escalating violence, including violation of human rights in the region said, `there can be no sustainable peace initiative without the possibi lity of reconciliation, and that reconciliation is contingent upon redressing the imbalance of power between Israel and Palestine.' - PTI
