Info-Tech MUMBAI: State-owned telecom giant Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on Saturday said it has signed an agreement with Sri Lanka Telecom and NEC for submarine cable laying project between India and the island nation. The cable will be laid between Tuticorin in India and Mt. Lavinia in Sri Lanka covering a distance of about 325 km, it said in a release here. The project would take around eight months to complete and cost Rs 80 crore. The optical fibre cable would have a capacity of 20 Gbps initially and carry voice data a well as video communication. - PTI
