Snow Leopard upgrade priced at Rs 1,800

CHENNAI: Apple on Friday announced that Snow Leopard, an upgrade for the Mac Leopard operating system that goes on sale today, will be available as an upgrade for Mac OS X Leopard users for Rs 1,800.

Apple said Snow Leopard was half the size of the previous version and would free up to 7GB of drive space once installed.

The Snow Leopard single user licence will be available for Rs 1,800 and the Snow Leopard Family Pack, a single household, five-user licence, will be available for Rs 2,900.

For Tiger users with an Intel-based Mac, the Mac Box Set includes Mac OS X Snow Leopard, iLife ’09 and iWork ’09, and will be available for Rs 10,000. The Family Pack would cost Rs.13,500.

Server OS: The Mac OS X Server Snow Leopard, the next major release of the world’s easiest to use server operating system, which also go on sale today, will cost Rs 28,100 with unlimited client licenses. - Our Bureau
