Computer Usage Columns - Tip Off It's a spam attack!
Of late, I have been receiving about 50 spam mails everyday. I use Outlook Express. I use the `block the sender' facility, but even then the problem persists. I have also installed Spampal in my PC. But I have not found it really very effective. Please suggest a solution. R. Srinivasan Since you have already applied rules for blocking mails in your Outlook Express, you can continue with those rules and also incorporate further enhanced rules in the same. This will reduce your problems only to a certain extent. There are spam protection software's, specific for desktop client, throughout the network and many more. Symantec's BRIGHTMAIL is one such product, meant for SMTP accounts, mainly at the corporate level. There are many levels of tuning that you can have, based on your need. But you cannot go for a higher level of tuning because you tend to lose some of your genuine mails. For example, if you have set one of the tunings to remove all mails with `hi how r u' in the subject line, it removes all mails with this content in the subject. You could lose some of your genuine mails too. There are some anti-spam software's for home editions such as SPAMCOP and SPAMASSASIN also. Here is a download link http://www.giantcompany.com/(2q1fc455bhn5a055qqwlfcan)/download.aspx?PID=A22090A and http://spamassassin.apache.org/downloads.html
