IOC signs MoU with Govt for highway plazas

HYDERABAD, Jan.10

INDIAN Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC) has signed a memorandum of understanding ( MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Government to develop highway plazas comprising fuelling and other facilities of international standards on the waysides.

The land for the plazas would be provided by the Government through lease/licence arrangements.

The facilities include petrol/diesel filling stations, water, toilet, first-aid, eateries, STD/ISD booths, parking facilities for tourist buses and trucks, pharmacies and dhabas.

IOC would design, finance, operate and maintain the plazas. The MoU, signed during the recently-concluded CII-Partnership Summit is expected to give a boost to tourism in Andhra Pradesh by attracting a large number of domestic and international travellers.

IOC, a Fortune 500 company, has a retail network of more than 7,600 petrol/diesel outlets spread across the country.The MoU was signed by the Mr T.L. Jain, Executive Director, Indian Oil, Southern Region and the State Secretary, Tourism and Culture, Ms Chandana Khan, during the summit.
