RRL transfers new technology to Hyderabad co

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, Jan. 10

THE Regional Research Laboratory, Thiruvananthapuram (RRL-T) has transferred its latest `Swing Technology' for making food colours, spice flavours and extractions from fresh or dry spices and botanicals to Prudent Natural Products based in Hyderabad.

The firm is setting up a Rs 4.3-crore, 100 per cent export-oriented, fresh/dry spice processing plant with a capacity of 4.5 tonnes per day, which is expected to come up within the next seven months.

The plant has been designed in such a manner that it would be able to process both fresh and dry spices.

Unlike the existing plants in the country, which produce oleoresin from dry spice, the new technology will enable production of oleoresin with superior organoleptic qualities at lower cost of production.

With the setting up of the new plant in Hyderabad, the resources of the region - especially chilli, ginger and turmeric - can now be converted to value-added products.

According to Dr B.C. Pai, Acting Director, RRL-T is willing to extend all possible help to the new entrepreneur to set up the unit based on the advanced technology.

Mr Vidyasagar Tulluri, Managing Director, Prudent Natural Products, expressed the confidence that the alliance with the team headed by Dr Arumughan, Head, Agro-processing Division, RRL-T, would be able to come up with new ventures in the area of spices processing.
