A.T. Kearney may open office in Mumbai

New Delhi , Nov. 23

GLOBAL management consulting firm A.T. Kearney on Sunday indicated that it might open its second office in the country in Mumbai.

"We have specific plans on this matter, which would be reviewed in the next few weeks. A final decision on whether to open the office in Mumbai or not is expected to be taken by February next year," Mr Heinz Ludwig Klein, CEO-elect, A.T. Kearney Inc, told newspersons here. Mr Klein, who was elected as CEO of A.T. Kearney in October, is slated to assume office from December 1.

He made it clear that A.T. Kearney would not go in for a large office network in India, given that the country is still a "non-mature" market for consulting. "I do not see a large office network other than probably these two - the current one at New Delhi and may be one at Mumbai," Mr Klein said.

He said that the decision to have an office in Mumbai would to a large extent depend on the support that the organisation could provide for such a plan. "If you want to be successful in a non-mature market, you need the support of whole organisation. Otherwise, it would not be feasible to open a new office," Mr Klein said.

On the new focus areas for A.T. Kearney in India, Mr Klein said that his firm was keen to enhance its share of work for the Government.
