Our Bureau

Mumbai , March 17

RK Swamy BBDO has released its `Guide to urban markets', a decision support tool that helps marketers channelise their efforts and resources with greater efficiency and optimise returns.

The first copy of the guide was released by Mr G.N. Bajpai, Chairman, Securities and Exchange Board of India, and received by Mr R. Gopalakrishnan, Executive Director, Tata Sons Ltd.

"The guide ranks Indian urban centres by town prosperity for the first time", said Mr Srinivasan Swamy, Chief Executive Officer, RK Swamy.

The methodology involves classifying the country on 18 parameters and rating them as AAA, AA, etc. The information for the guide has been collated from 14 sources including Census 2001, Economic Census, etc.

The towns have been rated on three indices — market intensity index, market potential value and media exposure index, he said.
