`Cast your vote' campaign

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: The Chairman of CII AP, Mr K. Satish Reddy, said that the organisation would be taking various initiatives this time to motivate the "die-hard non-voters", mostly belonging to the affluent and educated sections of society, to exercise their franchise in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections next month.

The organisation plans to appeal to these people not to waste their votes through one-line stickers pasted on corporate letterheads, envelopes and also through an e-mail campaign. It is also, planning to involve celebrities and school children in this regard.

According to Mr Harischandra Prasad, 20 per cent of the electorate in the State were not exercising their franchise and CII would like to see at least 5 per cent of these people casting their votes this time.

Mr Manohar said that the CII had written to the Chief Election Commissioner who had "positively responded to the proposal". Hence, this could as well be a joint initiative of CII and CEC, he said.
