People Mundkur resigns from Everest Advertising Our Bureau
Mumbai , March 25 AFTER heading Everest Advertising for the past one year, Mr Prabhakar Mundkur intends taking a break before returning to the world of advertising. "I have always been in advertising and will be involved in one way or the other with the industry even if I don't head another agency,'' says Mr Mundkur, without explaining the reasons behind his sudden resignation from Everest. "It was a short period with Everest but I was looking at new opportunities. In the next few months, I will see what I can do and it's too early to have plans as yet," says the ad man, who has worked with agencies such as JWT and Euro RSCG in the past. Meanwhile, in the past year, Mr Mundkur, who faced the challenge of changing the public perception of Everest Advertising, has managed to bring in some additional business for the WPP agency. He was instrumental in bagging accounts such as that of LG Care, SKF Bearings, Maxima watches and Radio City FM. Mr Mundkur says he quite enjoyed the small agency atmosphere of Everest and helped improve its image in the industry. Says he: "Everest was a forgotten agency when I took over and did not feature within the top ten agencies in the country. I helped in taking Everest forward and recruited new talent and helped in getting new business." Taking a break for a couple months, Mr Mundkur intends taking up teaching assignments (he has already got an offer from a Barcelona-based Business school) and getting more active working for an NGO, Love Humanity. Besides the break will also give him a chance to practise music (Mr Mundkur is a trained pianist and has also been a recording artist), having been part of the music group belonging to the Indian pop star Remo Fernandes.
