Tata Power in pact with Gail, BP on Dabhol project

Our Bureau

Mumbai , April 5

TATA Power Company Ltd on Monday signed an agreement with Gail (India) Ltd and BP to evaluate the takeover of the neglected Dabhol power project and LNG import terminal.

The three companies will speak to stakeholders in the controversy-ridden project, which has been lying idle since May 2001, to figure out a "viable solution", Tata Power told the stock exchanges.

Tata Power, BP and Gail (India) had agreed in principle to jointly participate in any likely resale opportunity for the project, more than two years ago.
