Kerala Civil Supplies turnover up

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Civil Supplies Corporation recorded a turnover of Rs 450 crore during the last financial year, said Mr G. Karthikeyan, Minister for Food and Culture.
Addressing a press conference in the city, he said this was a record turnover. The corporation had registered a turnover of Rs 383 crore in 2002-03.
The Minister said the corporation had set up over 100 `Labham' markets during the last fiscal and plans to start 100 more this year. It also plans to start `Maveli' stores in panchayats that currently do not have such outlets. Medical stores under the `Maveli' brand would be established in all taluk headquarters, he added.
The accumulated losses of the corporation now stand at Rs 300 crore, the Minister said. The company currently operates 842 `Maveli' stores, 20 mobile `Maveli' stores, 106 `Labham' markets, 10 `Super Maveli' stores, 10 petrol bunks, four LPG outlets, 38 `Maveli' medical stores, a kerosene outlet and a cafeteria, he added.
