M&M to steer into South Africa

Our Bureau

Mumbai , July 20

MAHINDRA & Mahindra Ltd (M&M) on Tuesday announced its foray into the South African automobile market.

Its vehicles, Scorpio and Bolero Pick Up, will be imported by Mahindra & Mahindra South Africa Pty Ltd, which will also provide after-sales service and supply spare parts.

According to an official statement, Mahindra & Mahindra South Africa had commissioned a leading market research company in that country to do in-depth studies, including focus group discussions and `ride & drive studies' late last year.

The company is currently in the process of finalising dealers, initially in Gauteng, Kwazulu Natal and Western Cape.
