B.L.N. Reddy, an undergraduate student, looks at the maize crop cultivated on two acres of land at Kuchavaram village in Medak district. Five acres of land owned by his family were not cultivated last year due to drought. Relying on scattered rains and a borewell running on free power, they cultivated two acres this year but are worried about the prospects as rainfall is scanty and the groundwater level has gone down.
