Bangalore , Dec. 1

DAIMLERChrysler has received approval from its parent company's commercial vehicle unit in Germany for launching heavy duty trucks, Actros, in India.

"The good news is that we have finally received approval from our commercial vehicle unit in Germany for our business plan to launch heavy duty trucks in India," the DaimlerChrysler India Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Mr Hans-Michael Huber, said.

He said Actros would be imported as CBUs (completely built units) and would hit the roads in January next year. The company plans to launch two models from the tippers and dumpers range. These trucks are expected to be priced around Rs 40 lakh.
