Performance Bajaj Auto 2-, 3-wheeler sales increase 24.9 pc in Jan Our Bureau
Mumbai , Feb. 1 BAJAJ Auto Ltd (BAL) today reported a 24.9 per cent rise in its two- and three-wheeler sales to 1,58,709 units for January 2005 from 1,27,022 units in the corresponding previous month. Its total two-wheeler sales for the month were up 33.1 per cent at 1,42,294 units (1,06,872 units ), including a 56.3 per cent growth in motorcycle sales to 1,32,028 units (84,500 units). However, the company's three-wheeler volumes slipped 18.5 per cent to 16,415 units (20,150 units), an official statement said. Over the April 2004-January 2005 period, BAL's two- and three-wheeler volumes increased by 20.2 per cent to 15,04,986 units (12,51,934 units). Its two-wheeler sales rose by 24.2 per cent to 13,20,311 units (10,63,039 units) including a 40.3 per cent rise in motorcycle sales to 11,85,594 units (8,45,158 units). Three-wheeler sales dipped 2.2 per cent to 1,84,675 units (1,88,895 units). According to the statement, BAL plans to introduce two new bikes in April-June, one each in the entry and premium segments. It is raising production capacity to 2,00,000 motorcycles a month by July.
