Demand for new tourist circuit in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Capital City Development Forum has urged the Government to set up a new tourist hub linking Poovar, Kovalam, Sanghumukham, East Fort, Veli, Akkulam, Kadhinamkulam, Papanasam, Thenmala, Ponmudi, Neyyar dam, Aruvikkara and the Agasthya Hills.

A meeting of the forum here identified the construction of a coastal road linking Veli to Anchuthengu, Chirayinkeezh and Varkala as a priority project. It also recommended the transfer of 15 acres of Government land at Kudappanakunnu to the Board for Control of Cricket in India for construction of an international cricket stadium.

The forum appealed to the Government to hand over unconditionally 27 acres acquired for the development of the international airport here. Speakers at the meeting accused the Government of delaying the project to set up a Biotechnology Park in the capital, in spite of receiving investment proposals.
