Kolkata , March 15 THE United Forum for BSNL Executives, comprising All India BSNL Executives Association (AIBSNLEA) and Sanchar Nigam Executives' Association (SNEA), on Tuesday launched an indefinite non co-operation against non-implementation of the "already settled promotional policy and allied issues." To press their demands, a relay hunger strike has also been launched with effect from Tuesday. It will continue till March 17. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, the Secretary of the West Bengal Branch of AIBSNLEA, Mr Amit Gupta, and the Secretary of the West Bengal Branch of SNEA, Mr Tapas Ghosh, said that, following the formation of BSNL in October 2000, about 50,000 Gr.B officers belonging to different wings such as telecom, accounts, civil, electrical, etc, got absorbed into BSNL and have since been working as executives. Both Mr Gupta and Mr Ghosh said that the agitation was not to press for any new set of demands. Instead, it was to press for implementation of the already-settled demands. "More than four years since absorption, the management is yet to implement agreements pertaining to pay scales and career progression. According to them, the Gr.B officers were left with no alternative but to resort to such an agitation to press for implementation of "already-settled demands." They claimed that the BSNL management did not take any action on the matter.
