Guard shoots at UCO Bank manager, kills himself

Mumbai , Oct. 20

A TREASURY guard of UCO Bank, Nariman Point branch, shot at a Chief Manager following an altercation about absenteeism. The guard then shot himself dead, police said. The incident occurred at 10.30 a.m. on Thursday.

According to the senior inspector of Marine Lines police station, the Chief Manager, Mr Pradeep Prakash, is in critical condition and is undergoing treatment at Bombay Hospital.He is a resident of Dahisar. The deceased, R.S. Jadhav was a resident of Kalyan. He is survived by his wife and three children. The police said that he used to be habitually absent.

On Thursday, the guard came to the branch after remaining absent for about 10 days. When he went to sign the register, Mr Prakash tried to stop him, as he had not reported for work.

At this point, Mr Jadhav shot Mr Prakash with his rifle and then shot himself. Both were hit in the chest.
