Stock Markets Columns - Ear to the ground Adlabs betting on numbers
Dealers said the buying is ahead of the company's financial results next week. The company's board is scheduled to meet on October 27 for September quarter results. The talk is that the financial performance for the quarter is expected to be substantially better than the previous few quarters. According to dealers, the main factor for the optimism is the company's multiplex business. Adlabs had added screens in the last quarter. Moreover, the success of various films that has resulted in more ticket sales for the company also augurs well, feel dealers. In the last two days, the stock is already up 20 per cent. On Friday, the stock closed at Rs 306.85, up 3.4 per cent, on the BSE with volumes of 11.10 lakh shares; on the NSE, it closed at Rs 306, up 1.92 per cent, with volumes of 24.83 lakh shares.
Rises on good prospects INFRASTRUCTURE Development Finance Company rose on Friday. The stock moved up 4.19 per cent to Rs 64.60 on the BSE with volumes of 40.07 lakh shares; on the NSE, it closed at Rs 64.50, up 3.95 per cent, with volumes of 83.71 lakh shares. Dealers said the interest in the stock came from select FIIs. The talk is that the future for the company looks good and it is likely to benefit the most due to the infrastructure development. The company's private equity investments, which would unlock value in future, are also seen as a big positive for the stock.
Festive season bodes well TITAN Industries, a watch and jewellery company, attracted a large number of buyers on Friday. It rose 7 per cent to Rs 447.85 with volumes of 3.88 lakh shares on the BSE; on the NSE, it closed at Rs 447.30, up 6.77 per cent, with volumes of 11.11 lakh shares. Dealers said the interest in the stock is on expectation of good sales in the festival season for the company's products. Normally, October-December quarter is considered as the best quarter for companies such as Titan. The talk is that a big player, which has a liking for Titan stock, bought shares on Friday.
