Color Chips to produce animation films

HYDERABAD: Color Chips (India) Ltd has announced that Media Ltd, part of the Color Chips group, has embarked upon an initiative to produce full-length animation feature films.

The company's first and full-length animation feature film based on the life of Lord Krishna is being directed and scripted by the duo of Bapu & Mullapudi Venkata Ramana, the company informed the BSE.

The signing up of Bapu, engaged in more than 40 feature films, is the first major initiative in the Indian animation and entertainment industry to produce a high quality full length animated film on a commercial basis.

Bapu & Ramana combination were involved in a number of commercial ventures and a number of their films have won acclaim, nationally and internationally.

Krishna is being animated in traditional 2D animation with high quality visual effects and backgrounds and is slated for theatrical release by June 2006. The original version would be in Hindi and shall be translated into English for international release subsequently.

The company has also started work on a couple of Hindi live action feature films and has roped in some big names in the Bollywood industry to work on these projects. The details of these projects would be announced in due course.
