THE Hindu Friday Review November Fest, a seven-day music festival, will be held between November 19 and 25 at the Music Academy.

Mr V. Kalidas, Vice President-Advertising, The Hindu, said at a press conference that the newspaper had in the past organised events like the Property Plus Fair, the Lifestyle Fair and the Opportunities Fair. More recently, it had organised a Theatre Festival, which was "a great success".

The music festival was scheduled in November so that it did not overlap with the city's Carnatic music season, which usually starts in December and continues till early January, Mr Kalidas said.

Seven concerts would be held as part of the event. Daily tickets are priced Rs 300, Rs 200 and Rs 100. Season tickets are priced Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,500. Tickets are available at various retail outlets and at www.hindu.com/novemberfest/.

As part of the festival, a music conference will be held at Taj Connemara on November 21. The theme of the conference is `Is Indian music going global? Challenges and opportunities'. The speakers at the conference include Aruna Sairam, Sudha Raghunathan, Fazal Qureshi, Christian Paulin, Karaikudi Subramanian, Sriram Parasuram, Shubha Mudgal and T.M. Krishna. Entry to the conference is by invitation only.

The presenting sponsor is Aircel. The associate sponsors are HLL Pureit, Ford and WorldSpace. AVT Coffee is the beverage partner; Taj Connemara is the hospitality partner and Jet Airways the travel partner.

Mr R. Mahadevan, Programme Director, WorldSpace said that the global satellite radio service provider would run contests on the festival days.

Mr Victor Nirajan, Senior General Manager, AVT, said that AVT would launch its premium coffee brand at the event.
