New Products & Services Variety - Sports Cricinfo Magazine launched Our Bureau
Chennai , Jan. 4 ONLINE cricket publisher Cricinfo has forayed into print with the launch of Cricinfo Magazine. This monthly magazine, which was launched on Wednesday, is published by the Infomedia group, publisher of special interest magazines and business directories, under a licence agreement with the Wisden group. The first issue runs to 124 pages, with a special 32-page supplement on the upcoming India-Pakistan series. The cover features include conversations with Indian captain Rahul Dravid and coach Greg Chappell. The issue also carries a feature on fast bowling down the years and interviews with Chaminda Vaas, Ian Healy and Virender Sehwag, apart from columns, reviews, quotes, statistics, trivia and offbeat pieces. It will also carry a selection of some the best photographs from the month gone by. Cricinfo Magazine is edited by Mr Sambit Bal and produced by the editorial team behind the erstwhile magazine Wisden Asia Cricket. The magazine is priced at Rs 40. Regular contributors include Harsha Bhogle, Sanjay Manjrekar, Mukul Kesavan, Peter Roebuck and Gideon Haigh. "Cricinfo Magazine will share the values that have made the Web site so successful; but it will also enable us to showcase the finest cricket writing and photography in the best possible format," according to a press release quoting Mr Tom Gleeson, CEO of the Wisden Group. Mr Prakash Iyer, MD, Infomedia India, said: "Cricket is India's number one passion... The world's largest and most passionate cricket audience deserves a truly world-class magazine. We will ensure that Cricinfo Magazine becomes Indian fans' can't-put- down-companion."
