Gati opens distribution centre in Coimbatore

Gati Ltd, the retail express cargo company, has opened an express distribution centre (EDC) here on Saturday.

The 5000 sq. ft. EDC can help meet the demand for cargo-handling infrastructure in Coimbatore, which according to the Gati officials, is recording a 30 per cent year-on-year growth Gati has a top-of-line racking and security system, material handling equipment and an online warehousing facility in Coimbatore.

Gati has upgraded its Coimbatore operations due to industrial revival and highway development, including the linkage of the Golden Quadrilateral with the city, said Mr Yogesh V. Khamar, Head, Business and Operations (South Zone). The demand for supply chain management and the opening up of retail marketing have also contributed to the growth of cargo-handling infrastructure.

Gati, whose express cargo network connects 594 districts out of 602 in the country, runs 10 EDCs.
