Cruise control Hyundai sold 30,038 units in March 2006 with the domestic market accounting for 22,524 units (16,315 in March 2005). Ford sold 5,929 units in March 2006, an 83 per cent jump over the sales in the same month last year.
Chennai , April 3 Hyundai Motor India's sales have increased 27 per cent in March 2006 over the same month last year, while Ford India's sales were up 83 per cent in the same month. According to a Hyundai Motor India press release, the company sold 30,038 units in March 2006 with the domestic market accounting for 22,524 units (16,315 in March 2005) and exports 7,514 units (7,354). In March 2006, the company sold 22,800 units of the Santro and 5,052 units of the Accent. For March 2006, Hyundai Motor India sold 24,706 units in the A2 segment (the small car segment, which in the company's case includes the Santro and Getz) against 13,434 cars in March 2005 (11,833 units of the Santro and 1,601 units of the Getz). In the A2 segment (Accent) it sold 5,052 cars (2,525), A4 segment (Elantra) 196 units (220), A5 (Sonata) 46 units (86) and SUV (Terracan and Tucson) 38 units (50 of the Terracan in March 2005). For the financial year 2005-06, Hyundai Motor India sold 261,076 cars (1,58,984 domestic and 1,02,092 exports), a 16 per cent increase over the 2,24,305 (142,212 domestic and 82,093 exports) units sold in the previous year. A Ford India press release said the company sold 5,929 units in March 2006, an 83 per cent jump over the sales in the same month last year. The Ikon sold about a 1,000 cars in March 2006, while the balance came from Fiesta, and Fusion, Endeavour and Mondeo. In financial year 2005-06, Ford India sold 28,865 vehicles (five models), a 6 per cent increase over the 27,259 vehicles (four models) sold last year.
