Sanjeev Sharma quits Nokia

Our Bureau

New Delhi , May 3

After years at Nokia, Mr Sanjeev Sharma has stepped down as the Managing Director of Nokia India after he was asked to move to Singapore as regional head of marketing.

Mr Sharma chose to quit the company and remain in India instead. Nokia's Singapore office has issued a press release announcing the appointment of Mr D. Shivakumar as Nokia India V-P and Country GM.

"I had taken a decision that I would like to remain in India and contribute to the country's growth story. India's economy is hot and it is here where the action is. It doesn't make much sense professionally for me to move out of the country at this point of time," Mr Sharma told Business Line.

While Mr Sharma said he was evaluating his next move, it will be at least two to three months before he makes a decision.
