Chennai , May 11

Aircel Cellular today announced its partnership with California-based Roamware, provider of voice and data roaming solutions for over 200 mobile operator networks.

Aircel will use Roamware's `short codes' and `smart call assistance' to provide advanced roaming services.

Mr K.V.P. Baskar, CEO of Aircel, was quoted in a release as saying that the technology would allow roaming subscribers to continue using abbreviated codes assigned by the carrier and to access local services such as voicemail, directory service, customer care, and convenience services such as taxis and hotels.

The `Smart Call Assistant' would allow the subscribers to use the numbers in their phonebook.
