Metro rail for Madurai urged

A METRO TRAIN

Madurai, Aug. 1

The Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industries has urged the Ministry of Railways to implement underground metro train project in Madurai as early as possible. In a letter to the Railway Minister, Mr Lalu Prasad, the Chamber Secretary, Mr P.T.K.A. Balasubramanian, said considering the future development of Madurai, the underground metro rail project, though costlier, must be implemented to connect the northern and southern urban and suburban areas. He pointed out that Madurai, the second largest city in the State, was heavily crowded and in respect of road traffic, the public were feeling much discomfort.
