Tea Web Extras - Commodity Markets Mixed trend at Kochi tea auction Our Bureau
Kochi , Aug. 10 A mixed trend was witnessed at the Kochi tea auction, which had 8,55,000 kg of dust tea on offer. Good general demand was witnessed and prices of popular CTC varieties were steady. Other good, medium and below medium CTCs remained barely steady to easier by Re 1 to Rs 2. Bolder CTCs also eased by Re 1 to Rs 2. Prices of high-grown orthodox dust remained dearer, while medium orthodox remained steady. Exporters remained selective on dust grades. The price of best CTC varieties were Rs 55-68, medium CTC at Rs 50-56 and below medium grades were Rs 45-50. High-grown BOPD dust was quoted at Rs 79-118, medium BOPD was Rs 45-50 and secondaries ranged between Rs 40 and Rs 42.
Leaf tea
There was good general demand at the leaf tea auction, which had 2,45,000 kg on offer. Prices of orthodox grades generally remained firm to dearer by Re 1 to Rs 2, while CTCs remained barely steady to easier. Orthodox leaf varieties witnessed good demand from exporters, while internal buyers absorbed most of the CTC varieties.
Top prices
Top prices in dust varieties were quoted for Kodanad BOPD at Rs 118, Pasuparai FD (Rs 100), Parkside BOPD (Rs 96) and Pasuparai SFD at Rs 95. In the leaf segment, Havukal BOPF was quoted at Rs 109, Chamraj OP at Rs 106, Tiger Hill BOPF at Rs 102 and Havukal OP at Rs 100.
