COLLABORATIVE INITIATIVE: Mr Rohit Agarwal, Chairman and CEO, techTribe, with Mr Kiran Karnik, President, Nasscom, in the Capital on Thursday. - Kamal Narang

New Delhi , Sept. 14

San Francisco-based software company techTribe Networks on Thursday announced the launch of an online platform for IT professionals in India. The forum would connect IT companies to discuss ideas and enable partnerships with other companies who may be interested in these ideas and innovate new products.

On the initiative, the techTribe CEO, Mr Rohit Agarwal, said, "All big companies such as Microsoft, Apple, Sun developed when diverse people got together to share ideas. So techTribe believes in connecting rather than competing."

Creating tribes

While the registration is free for the users, the company would take revenues from corporations who wanted to create their own tribes. He added that individual professionals could form their own tribes viewing the profile of the other users. The information would be shared among the specific members within the tribe who would have decided to collaborate on certain ideas.

The company would also award Rs 10 lakh each month to an innovative idea collaboratively developed by professionals using the techTribe platform. "Innovation thrives best in diversity. So, when people thinking differently come together would create a platform for ideas to germinate," said Mr Kiran Karnik, President NASSCOM. Lack of mentoring, networking as well as finances were some of the reasons that prevented Indian companies from innovating, said Mr Karnik.
