Chennai , Sept. 20 Chennai-based ECHC Management Services Pvt Ltd, a recruitment and consulting firm, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) here on Wednesday with International Recruitment Japan Inc (IRJ), a talent search firm from Japan. As per the MoU, ECHC would identify Indian talent for Japanese corporations in the fields of IT, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and logistics at entry-level as well as middle and senior management levels, according to Mr K. V. Ramesh, Chairman and Managing Director, ECHC. The first assignment would be in recruiting software engineers for IRJ's IT clients. Mr Yoshinori Mori, Vice-President, Overseas Business Development, IRJ, told the press that Japanese IT companies are short of software engineers - for every single engineer that the country has, there is a requirement of 3.5 engineers, he said.
Job offers
The job offers - 25 are scheduled to be made in January 2007 - would range from $35,000 (Rs 16 lakh) to $150,000 (Rs 69 lakh) per annum, he said. This is the same salary that is offered to Japanese engineers with the same qualification. Since it is offered in January, the would-be employee would have six months to take up a Japanese language course, he said. Mr Ramesh added that the company would be recruiting from the IITs as well as various other engineering colleges. The companies are also looking at the possibility of setting up training centres jointly, whereby students and employees could come to India from Japan to imbibe expertise in IT here.
