Malayalam Comm net at Rs 79 lakh

Malayalam Communications Ltd, which owns the Kairali and People satellite television channels, has earned a profit after tax of Rs 78.76 lakh on revenues of Rs 23.17 crore in the last financial year. This represents a 13.62 per cent increase in profit after tax and an 8 per cent increase in revenues over fiscal 2004-05, said Mr M. Venkitaraman, Senior General Manager-Finance, Malayalam Communications Ltd.

In 2004-05, the company earned a profit after tax of Rs 69.32 lakh on revenues of Rs 21.45 crore. Meanwhile, the company is building a studio-cum-office complex in Thiruvananthapuram. The investment in the project is expected to be around Rs 5 crore, Mr Venkitaraman said. The Kerala Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan, will lay the foundation stone for the building on September 29.
