Chamber, Japanese group ink pact

The Indo-Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the International Friendship Exchange Committee of Japan have entered into an agreement to promote cultural, economic and social interaction.
Addressing the gathering at the signing of the MoU, Mr Hiromichi Fujita, leader of the Friendship Exchange Committee delegation, said that the agreement is happening against the backdrop of strengthening Japan-India economic partnership.
India's economic growth has made it as important to Japan as China. South India is becoming more important in India's economic development and Tamil Nadu is fast becoming an investment destination, he said.
The Consul-General of Japan, Mr Yoshiaki Kodaki, said that the economic ties between India and Japan are set to be strengthened with the two countries working for a Japan-India Economic Partnership Agreement.
The relationship between Japan and South India is entering a new phase, particularly in the economic field, with Japan's business presence increasing here and India's IT industry growing in Japan.
