Aventis: Betting on earnings

As the fourth quarter (December-ending) results announcement of Aventis Pharma draws near, Dalal Street's attention has turned to its rising earning prospects. The stock closed at Rs 1424.70 (up over 1.5 per cent on Wednesday and 3 per cent in the past one week) indicating beginning of a northward journey and the traded quantity (1.02 lakh shares on the NSE) also suggested activity.

The expected EPS for 2006 is Rs 90 (against the previous year EPS of Rs 63) without taking into account earning of its subsidiary Roussel India.

Market players are also expecting a stock split followed by a bonus issue.
