Hyderabad Feb. 5 The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today invited hardware and semiconductor companies to locate their projects in the State and assured all necessary support from the Government.

He announced that the SemIndia project had received pollution control clearance and commenced work on the project.

Speaking at the Vision Summit here today, Dr Reddy assured the semiconductor industry representatives of State Government's support and mentioned that the infrastructure created by the State would make it an attractive destination for hardware, electronics and semiconductor companies.

In the next two-three years, the power sector in the State is poised to add about 7,000 MW. Backed by quality workforce and support infrastructure, he mentioned that the investment climate now has become ideal.

Power, water supply

Dr Reddy said companies like SemIndia have started their construction activities for the fab and the State is supportive of their initiatives. He assured both adequate power supply and water required for semicondcutor industry.

With the new Greenfield International airport poised to be operational by early 2008 and the eight-lane Outer Ring Road project and Metro Rail projects under way, the efforts are on to decongest the city. The three projects would be ready by 2008-end, he said.

Earlier, Dr Debasish Das, Minister In-Charge for IT department, West Bengal, felt that the country needed to initiate steps to meet the demands of the semiconductor industry and reduce imports.
