VSNL, Microsoft to offer messaging tools for SMEs

Mumbai March 13 Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) announced the launch of Ready-Access-business messaging and collaboration services in alliance with Microsoft.

The service is targeted towards the small and medium enterprises (SME) market. It will provide enterprise grade messaging capabilities through which customers will be able to exchange conventional emails and files, as well as share calendars and task lists and Windows Mobile Access.

The service will be on a pay-per-use basis, without the need for high up-front capital investment.

In addition, ReadyAccess offers message security with an enterprise grade anti-spam and anti-virus solutions, as well as on-demand storage services.

"Microsoft will bring in technology and VSNL will be the service provider. A few thousand mailboxes are already operational in the country," said Mr Abid Qadiri, Vice-President, Managed Services, VSNL.

He added that VSNL was also in talks with domestic and international mobile service providers for offering this service. Their names will be announced shortly, he said. The service will be offered by the Tata Indicom Enterprise Business Unit, the enterprise business division of VSNL. It will be offered globally through VSNL International, the international arm of the company.

The company is looking at serving SMEs in Asia, Europe, Africa and America.

VSNL will also be offering Adaptive Messaging, a fully managed end-to-end solution which is targeted at global MNC's and larger enterprises seeking an out-tasked messaging and collaboration service.
