Bangalore, March 26

Computer vendor Lenovo announced on Monday the completion of the second of three massive hardware deliveries for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. The firm has provided approximately 300 servers, 800 desktops, 800 monitors and 70 notebook computers till date. By the time the Games commence, it would have delivered more than 14,000 pieces of computing equipment, as part of its role as Computing Equipment sponsor for the event.

Lenovo equipment and services provided during the two weeks of Games are equivalent to that needed for any Fortune 500 company to run its daily operations. "With the completion of this hardware delivery, Lenovo is now preparing for the long, arduous test phase," said Mr Leon Xie, Lenovo's Olympic Technology & Sponsorship Director. 42 test events will prepare the staff and ensure that the equipment works. By August 2008, when the Games begin, the number of Lenovo technicians and staff at the site would mushroom to above 400.
