Firstsource Q1 net rises 235%

Mumbai, July 29

BPO provider Firstsource Solutions has posted a 234.8 per cent rise in net profit for the quarter ended June 2007 to Rs 44.2 crore as against Rs 13.2 crore in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

Revenues for the quarter went up by 75 per cent to 282.2 crore (Rs 161.05 crore). Sequentially, net profit was up by 27 per cent from Rs 34.8 crore.

The rupee appreciation against major currencies had a 1.7 per cent impact on the net margins, Mr Ananda Mukerji, Managing Director and CEO, told Business Line. “We were able to negate the impact through effective hedging, impr oved productivity and by diversifying our revenue streams,” added Mr Mukerji. For the June quarter, India accounted for 10.9 per cent of total revenues, as against 2.7 per cent recorded in the corresponding year-ago quarter. –
