CTV output registers big spike: Assocham

New Delhi, Aug. 24 While the production of colour TVs in the country almost trebled between 2000-01 and 2006-07, the production of black & white TVs was reduced to a quarter in the period.

According to industry chamber Assocham, the production of colour TVs, which was 57 lakh units in 2000-01, reached 1.5 crore units in 2006-07. On the other hand, the production of black & white TVs which was 42 lakh units in 2000-01 was reduced to 11 lakh units in 2006-07.

The market for the colour TV segment will see a 25-30 per cent increase in 2007-08 over the previous year while the black & white market will see a negative growth of 22 per cent.

A study by the chamber on white goods shows production of white goods is estimated to reach Rs 23,000 crore by end of 2007-08, as against Rs 20,500 crore in the previous year, registering a growth of 12.5 per cent.
