Announcements Marketing - IPR Suven gets 2 European patents for neuro treatment
Our Bureau Hyderabad, Nov. 27 Suven Life Sciences Ltd has obtained two patents from the European Patent Offices (EPO), for potential candidate compounds targeting treatment for diseases related to the brain such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, etc. The patents granted by the EPO would be valid until June 2022. The claims include the class of selective 5-HT compounds discovered by Suven, which it is developing into therapeutic agents. These compounds would be useful in the treatment of cognitive impairment associated with neuro-degenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s, attention deficient hyperactivity, Huntington’s disease, Parkinson’s, and Schizophrenia, a company press release claimed. The Hyderabad-based Suven already has three patents granted by the EPO. They have been validated in all the 37 member countries of Europe including major markets like Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Sweden, and Finland. Suven Discovery Research is also in the process of completing necessary administrative and technical diligence required by patent offices of leading countries for filing more patents, the release said. Clinical studySuven has already filed its first Investigational New Drug (IND) application with DCGI to conduct the clinical Phase-I study on their developmental candidate SUVN502 and several candidates are in the discovery pipeline undergoing GLP pre-clinical studies. We continue to work on G-Protein coupled receptor (GPCR) targets to discover and develop molecules focusing on CNS disorders with unmet medical need and high market potential, said Mr Venkat Jasti, CEO of Suven.
