Wipro’s Digital TV stacks to target global markets

Bangalore, Jan. 7 Wipro Technologies, the global IT services division of Wipro Ltd, today announced the availability of its portfolio of Digital TV middleware addressing multiple global markets segmented by different standards.

The portfolio has ATSC and Open Cable along with Cable Card/POD for North America, DVB-T/S/C and DVB-CI for Europe and parts of Asia, and ISDB-T/S for Japan.

The company also has MHEG-5 Profile 1.06 and DSM-CC for interactive DTV market of the UK.

In addition, Wipro has developed Application Framework Components which enable faster development of digital media devices such as Set-Top Box and Integrated Digital Television products, said a company release.

“As part of our ongoing strategic initiative to develop reusable intellectual properties in various technologies, we have built a portfolio of Digital TV stacks as our key offerings along with our design services. With this, we position ourselves as a One-Stop-Shop for DTV solutions targeting multiple markets such as North America, Europe, Asia and Japan, across the globe,” said Mr Nagamani Murthy, Vice-President, Mobile & Consumer Electronics Group.

Wipro has more than 20 licences across its DTV stacks for multiple product segments including high definition TVs, high-end set-top box with IP capability and In-Car TVs.

With the IT major’s field proven and off-the-shelf Digital TV middleware, it enables customers to now focus on product differentiation through richer applications.
