Rubber Spot rubber stays steady Aravindan Kottayam, Jan. 14 Physical rubber rates were unchanged on Monday. The market appeared almost neutral lacking global guidance as TOCOM was closed though RSS 3 spot moved down marginally by 28 paise to Rs 103.10 a kg at Bangkok. Sheet rubber RSS 4 finished unchanged at Rs 94.75 a kg at Kottayam, while the grade added 25 paise to reach the same level at Kochi. The transactions were dull. Futures firmThe rubber futures stayed in tune with the domestic mood on NMCE. The last traded price for the January contract was quoted at Rs 94 (94.26), February at Rs 96.87 (97.12), March at Rs 98.80 (98.99) and April at Rs 100.87 (101) a kg for RSS 4. The open interest slipped to 9,153 (9,564) lots while the volumes were better at 2177 (557) lots. The outstanding positions were 813 (1,303) lots in January, 4,712 (4,696) lots in February, 2,771 (2,731) lots in March and 857 (834) lots in April. The January contract improved to Rs 95 (94.43) a kg on MCX. Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 94.75 (94.75); RSS-5: 92 (92); ungraded: 90 (90.50); ISNR 20: 91.50 (91.50) and latex 60 per cent: 61 (61). More Stories on : Rubber
