PSBT documentaries on NDTV

Mr Adoor Gopalakrishnan

New Delhi, Feb. 11

The Public Service Broadcasting Trust is now capturing a larger audience for its documentaries and reality films on NDTV’s series Documentary 24x7. NDTV’s channel is showing the trust’s films. “With a decline in the standards of commercial television, this is a very praiseworthy effort by NDTV. Our films are produced by independent filmmakers, most of them young, partially funded by Doordarshan. The future for public broadcasting lies in efforts su ch as these that demonstrate the potential of public-private partnerships,” said Mr Adoor Gopalakrishnan, filmmaker and the Chairperson of PSBT. The not-for-profit trust is trying to “situate a new vocabulary and activism at the very heart of broadcasting in India.” The films will be shown on Thursday nights and Sunday afternoons. Films from the Trust are also telecast on Doordarshan every week and at other fora.
