MS India opens lab at IIT Madras

Chennai, Feb. 18

Microsoft Corporation India inaugurated its technology lab at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. The IITM Microsoft Windows Technologies Lab will harness innovation through research, and provide a platform for faculty and students to leverage the facility for research and training. Prof. T.A. Gonsalves, Head, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Madras, said Microsoft has offered Rs 90 lakh for the lab, which would start with R&D on `remote terminal services and cyber cafes based on Windows XP.' - Our Bureau
