Dish TV’s net subscriber base at 2.5 m

Our Bureau

New Delhi, April 5 DTH operator Dish TV had, since it started operations, acquired three million subscribers. A company release said, however, after making adjustments for churned subscribers since its launch three years ago, the net subscriber base of the company stands at 2.5 million.

Dish TV said it added 86,000 new subscribers in the last month, giving it a market share in excess of 60 per cent of the pay DTH industry. And that its churn rate compared very favourably to the annual churn internationally of about 15-20 per cent. According to Dish, the subscribers who have moved out of the platform are largely those who were acquired in the initial stages of the launch, from the rural and upcountry markets. The company plans to share its subscriber base figure with churn rate indicated henceforth.
