Strategy Industry & Economy - Radio/TV INX Network takes news channel to DTH Our Bureau New Delhi, April 10 NewsX, the news and current affairs channel from INX Network, has tied up with both Dish TV and Tata Sky to reach out to Direct-to-Home consumers. The channel will be available on the Dish TV and Tata Sky platforms from April 14, the company said in a statement. Launched on cable on March 27, NewsX is the country’s first High Definition TV (HDTV)-ready English news channel, claims the company. “NewsX aims to provide viewers in India and overseas with a world-class product which is analytical, in-depth and unbiased, striving to deliver ‘Clarity in a Complex World’,” said Ms Indrani Mukerjea, Chairperson, INX News, in a release. NewsX says it is using high definition cameras on the road for sharper image quality, with MPEG-4 encoding to get the picture directly to the viewer at the highest speed in the shortest time. Dish TV and Tata Sky have both welcomed the addition of the channel onto their platforms. The network’s GEC channel 9X, meanwhile, is hoping to push up ratings with a devotional show to be produced by Mr Dheeraj Kumar. The five-month old channel claims to have reached fourth position amongst Hindi GECs. Quoting TV ratings agency aMap, it says its GRPs stood at 83 points (after Star Plus’ 346, Zee’s 188 and Sony’s 88 GRPs) amongst audiences of four years and above in the West, North and East markets week 14 of 2008.
