Radio One FM 94.3 to cheer for Chennai Super Kings

Chennai, April 18 Chennai Super Kings has chosen Radio One FM 94.3 Chennai as its partner for the inaugural edition of the IPL Twenty 20 tournament.

The Chennai Super Kings, owned by India Cements and led by M.S. Dhoni, is to play its first match on home turf on April 23.

To cheer for the team, Radio One is running content around the Chennai Super Kings team, including a cheering campaign by celebrities and listeners, player profiles, talk by experts, special IPL capsules from BBC, contests giving away match tickets and merchandise and 20-second cricket quizzes.

According to an official statement, during the duration of the tournament, BBC Fun ’n Games, an audio sports magazine produced by BBC exclusively for Radio One and aired once every hour on Fridays, would feature the highlights and sidelights of the action at the tournament.

Radio One is also creating a humour segment titled Umpire Ballaiah for a funny take on the proceedings, apart from producing IPL special episodes of its popular interstatial Radio One Xtra Innings.

The statement, quoting Mr L.V. Navaneeth, Station Head, Radio One, said: “Radio One is a cricket crazy station and known for its innovative programming around cricket.

“The inaugural edition offers Radio One Chennai an opportunity to cheer for our team while offering entertaining and engaging programming to our listeners.”

Mr Vineet Singh Hukmani, CEO, Radio One FM 94.3, said: “We had planned our annual cricket calendar well in advance under the Radio One Cricket League umbrella idea and we have already signed up sponsors for the same.”
