TRAI seeks DTH operators’ performance monitoring reports

Our Bureau

New Delhi, July 31 The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India wants Direct-to-Home operators to submit quarterly performance monitoring reports (PMRs) for the services they offer.

TRAI wants all details such as the number of active subscribers and channels and tariffs furnished to the authority within 21 days from the end of each quarter. The information that Sun TV, Tata Sky, and Dish TV will have to provide before the end of August will also include existing plans and packages, new ones, promotional offers and those that they have withdrawn.

The list of channels and their pay or free-to-air status, the carriage fees and technical charges being charged by DTH operators will also be required. Subscription fees, plans and packages for set-top boxes, installation charges and even maintenance charges will have to be shared henceforth. The first such PMR for the quarter ended June 2008 is to be submitted by the existing players before August 31.
