Thiruvananthapuram, Sept. 10 Mahindra Holidays and Resorts Ltd is set to market homestays in Kerala in the global market.

Kerala Tourism and Mahindra Holidays and Resorts Ltd have signed a non-exclusive memorandum of understanding, under which the latter will undertake the international marketing and promotion of homestays in Kerala.

According to the terms of the MoU, which is valid for five years, Mahindra Holidays will classify, rate, brand and market Kerala homestays in select overseas markets. The company will start by promoting Kerala homestays in the UK, which is a major market for Kerala’s tourism sector.

Online promotion

Homestays in Kerala will also be promoted through the company’s Web site, www.mahindrahomestays.com, says a Kerala Tourism press release.

The company will also support efforts by homestay owners to improve their operations. The agreement also envisages joint promotion of homestays at trade fairs in India and abroad.

According to Mr M. Sivasankar, Director, Kerala Tourism, the MoU will help bring more than 350 classified homestays from across Kerala onto a single platform.

The MoU is expected to benefit homestay owners as it will give them increased market access. The MoU is part of Kerala Tourism’s strategy to expand accommodation options in the State, while offering visitors an authentic experience of life in Kerala.
