New Projects Industry & Economy - Petroleum ONGC roadshow: 26 firms respond Our Bureau
On the block The company aims to increase production from Assam from the current 1.4 million tonnes to more than 3 mt in fours years. The increased production is expected to improve the contribution of ONGC to the exchequer of the North-Eastern State (by royalty and sales tax) from the current Rs 360 crore to more than Rs 720 crore.
New Delhi , March 25 The first roadshow organised by Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd (ONGC) saw 26 vendors confirming their interest, for participation in the international competitive bidding, slated to be launched in May for the Rs 4,000-crore Assam Renewal Project. According to a company statement, the meet saw 49 representatives of 26 firms both from India and abroad. Out of the 26, eight were foreign vendors.

These were Sinopec of China, Kellogg Brown & Root of Singapore, Proteus and Leighton, both of Australia, Penang, Muhibaah and Sapura, all three of Malaysia, and Specialist Services of Dubai. Indian vendors included ABB, Larsen & Toubro, Nicco, Honeywell, Essar Oil, Engineers India Ltd, BHEL, Gammon, IOTL, Punj Lloyd, Technip, Afcons, Jaybee Energy, Leighton, Shiv Vani, Neftogaz, Rustech, Deep Industries, Doshi Ion Exchange and Santosh Sahewalla. Some of the parties are expected to combine their expertise and collaborate to bid for this single lumpsum turnkey EPC (Engineering Procurement and Construction) contract, valued atabout Rs 2,500 crore for equipment-related (for 41 installations to be integrated into 13 complexes) and Rs 500 crore for pipelines (1,250 km of pipelines with 903 segments), the company said. The ONGC Director (Onshore), Mr A.K. Hazarika, and the Director (T&FS) Mr U.N. Bose, conducted the roadshow to promote the tender to be floated by the company's Engineering Services. The company expects reputed vendors to participate in this contract on a turnkey basis, so that it can be executed efficiently and the objective of increasing production from Assam from the current 1.4 million tonnes to more than 3 mt in fours years materialises. The increased production is expected to improve the contribution of ONGC to the exchequer of the North-Eastern State (by royalty and sales tax) from the current Rs 360 crore to more than Rs 720 crore.
